The School

The Czech-Bavarian Supercomputing Summer School '25 teaches you – interested students and young researchers – basics and highlights of modern supercomputing, including AI and quantum-computing aspects.

Sign-up is now open until 10 July - be sure to sign up in time! The school takes place near Prague from 9-12 September 2025. Arrival is recommended on the evening of 8 September (or 9 September before start – about 9:30).

The participation fee (including lodging, food and programme) will be 400€.

Here you find the links to the programme, our beautiful venue, information on your participation and the sign-up page.

Who is the school for?

Interested students (BSc, MSc, PhD) and young researchers in science (involving computing) are the target group. Good basic Linux skills are required, and you should have an interest in supercomputing.

What can I expect from the school?

With modern Supercomputing, we aim to go beyond "classical" High-Performance Computing and Cloud Computing. We will introduce you to the world of quantum and GPU computing (including artificial-intelligence applications) and showcase how cross-system computational workflows can be automatised. We will also give you a feeling on how proper data management works in this demanding setting.

Who organises the school and what is its background?

The school is funded by the Bavarian State Chancellery and an initiative of Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) and IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center (IT4I) – national-level Supercomputing sites. Based on a strong, decade-long collaboration, IT4I and LRZ aim at boosting their educational activities with this school, giving students a glimpse on their most interesting projects in modern Supercomputing.

Speakers

We are currently finalising the list of collaborators and other high-level speakers.
